As part of our ongoing commitment to the wider community, Justine Flack, Associate Solicitor within the Family Team at Howes Percival has been working with the Leicestershire Education Business Company on their Justice Ambassador's Programme. This supports local schools and colleges who offer law on their curriculum or the Diploma in Society, Health and Development. The programme links the schools and colleges with professionals who work within the justice sector allowing the students to interact with the professionals and to discuss their experience at work.

Recently, Justine has gone back to school and spent two mornings at local community colleges. Whilst there, she led various discussions about work in a legal practice, legal training, how to structure a CV and how to prepare for interviews. The students were then given a case study based in Family Law and presented their cases to the 'Court'.

Justine said
"It was an enjoyable experience and I was pleased to be able to bring some of their academic study to life. Some of the students were very insightful, both in terms of the questions that they asked about legal practice and the issues which they identified within the case study. There was an understanding of Alternative Dispute Resolution and its benefits, indicating that students are already thinking about resolving disputes in different ways which was very interesting. It was great to see such enthusiasm and very heartening that, notwithstanding current issues about university funding, the students were motivated by the consideration of everyday legal dilemmas and the quest for job satisfaction. This made it a real privilege to be involved in the project."
