Law firm Howes Percival is expanding its Leicester office with the creation of 10 jobs.

The company is to launch a family law division, which will be headed by Jane Cowley after her move from rival Harvey Ingram.

The appointment of Ms Cowley, who has advised many high-profile clients from business, sport and entertainment, is a major coup for Howes.

"Jane has advised many high-profile clients from business, sports, entertainment, farming and other professions in the UK and internationally - several of her cases involved assets of £20 million-plus."

Ms Cowley, who will also head the private client division at the Leicester and Northampton offices, will oversee work with family businesses, trusts, offshore financial structures, farming businesses, property-related issues and pension arrangements. Her team will advise on a wide range of relationship and family concerns, including child residency and support, other dependents, divorce, and pre- and post-nuptial arrangements.

Howes Percival employs 56 people in Leicester and has successful corporate and commercial, employment law and intellectual property divisions.

Last month, the company advised on a deal which will see motor service operator Welcome Break spend up to £10m converting its coffee shop areas into Starbucks.
