Why you need a Clean Break
22/02/2011

Couples negotiating a financial settlement within divorce proceedings are often advised to try and achieve a "cleanbreak". If this settlement is approved by a court, neither of them can make financial claims on the other in the future. In the absence of a clean break order the door remains wide open. Claims for a lump sum can legitimately be brought years after the divorce is finalised as a recent lottery winner found to his cost. It is vital to have a thorough understanding of your potential liabilities. The Family Law Team at Howes Percival will discuss these issues with you and give you all the information you need to avoid encountering any unpleasant surprises in the future.

The expertise of the Howes Percival Family Law and Private Client Team includes matters relating to wealth management, family businesses, trusts, offshore financial structures, farming businesses, property-related issues and pension arrangements. Highly skilled in their work with individuals and families, the team also advises on a wide range of relationship and family concerns, including child residency and support, other dependents, divorce, and pre and post nuptial arrangements.
