150 people take part in Howes Percival pub quiz
Question: How many England caps did Tigers legend Martin Johnson win?
Answer: See below
The law firm Howes Percival entertained 150 Leicestershire business professionals with a ‘Noughties’ themed pub quiz which raised more than £500 for the charity ADAPT.
A total of 35 teams from accountants, banks, pension advisers, property agents and many more businesses battled it out at Time Bar in Leicester. Each of the seven rounds featured a question from each year of the past decade. Topics included news, celebrities, sport and knowledge of Leicestershire.
Teams included junior and senior members of businesses such as Grant Thornton, Tenon, HSBC, RBS, Lambert Smith Hampton and Lloyds TSB. The winning team came from the accountants and business advisers Cooper Parry. They edged out the second place team, from Barclays, by just half a point.
£586 was raised through a raffle of prizes donated by Leicestershire businesses. ADAPT has been selected by Howes Percival’s Leicester office as its chosen charity for 2010. The charity, based at Hinckley, was set up in 1995 by Rob and Fiona Morris, following the premature birth of their son Harry. ADAPT offers help and a support network to parents of babies who require neo-natal care.
The evening event was organised by three Howes Percival solicitors; Lucie Green, Michael Briggs and Richard Tomlinson. Lucie said: “We were amazed by the number of people who took part. We know the Leicestershire business sector is competitive, but this quiz really brought out their will to win.
“Best of all is that as well as being good fun and a keen contest, everyone was very generous when it came to buying raffle tickets which meant we raised a great amount for a very worthwhile charity in ADAPT.”
Lucie praised all the local firms which donated raffle prizes, which included Time Bar, Entropy, The Almanack, CeaSe, Curve, Prontaprint, Leicester Racecourse and Leicester City Football Club.
ADAPT sent a team to take part, and Sue Williams, the charity’s Development Co-ordinator, said: “ADAPT would like to thank everyone who attended the pub quiz and in particular the Howes Percival team who not only gave up their time to prepare the quiz, but also worked hard organising and making the event such a huge success. We were overwhelmed by the number of people who attended and can’t thank Howes Percival enough for choosing ADAPT as their Charity of the Year.”
